Day 002 | Video | Violet City

[The camera turns on to Grit who is sitting comfortably on a Violet City bench, playing around with a lighter to try and light up his cigarette. He looks down to the ground at it, and sighs.]

Hoppip, I ain't gonna set ya on fire.

[But it seems like the little creature doesn't want to come back while the lighter is out. Grit already knows the video is on.]

...Right so since I have everyone here, I guess I should ask. Considerin' that I'm a breeder, accordin' to my backpack, I should start doin' that. Or at least takin' care of some more Pokemon. Problem is, this little gal on the other side isn't really meant for fightin' yet. And she's all I got.

So, does anyone mind giving me somethin' to work with? I got a bit of money too, so I don't mind buyin' an egg or anything. Just prefer not to buy and sell things out of the egg. That just seems messy to me.

Thanks... alright, Hoppip, the lighter is away, relax and turn that thing off.

Mine was the same way at first. [Afraid of Smoker's cigars and fire.] I guess now I know why he was always hanging on Splash.

[Sends out his Jumpluff who is so cheerful it'll make your teeth ache.] Any idea what you're interested in breeding?

[Well he certainly has no problem with this. Always good to have some company.]

Is he more relaxed 'bout it now? [However his Hoppip seemed distracted and went after the Jumpluff to go play.]

Not a clue. [He took a long drag.] I don't even know what all my options are.

Yeah, he knows I won't let him get hurt now.

Hn. I don't remember what all the breeding lines are. Pokemon are weird. I guess you've got hoppip for an option.

Well, it's worth explorin', right? If I can get some more options then that'll be a bonus.

She likes telling me what to do. And her crew I assume. We just disagree on the brass being shitheads or not.

...So what do you like 'bout cigars anyways? Just the taste of 'em?

[A small grunt. Yup he's oblivious. Still, he does offer a cigar in case Grit wants to try one instead of the cigarette.]

Everything about them. [That doesn't really come as a surprise right? What with the two he's smoking and all.]

The taste, the feel, the rush, I prefer cigar paper and tobacco over cigarettes for the longer burn and usually more tender leaves. It's like the difference between whole leaf tea or teabags. Here try it and maybe you'll spot the difference.

[Oblivious works, somewhat. At least he's not stupid. He takes the cigar from his hand, crushing the cigarette under his foot.]

Thank ya. [He puts it in his lips, and lights it up.] I've heard good things about cigars but they ain't all that easy to find back home. [Leaning back into the bench.]

'xactly. Was almost forced to go without the regular kind. That woulda been hell.

Yikes. At least even with all the wars in my world the most that happens is disrupting the trade routes. It makes it harder to get cigars, but never impossible. And even storms are more likely to cause that than the pirates.

[Besides, that's why he stacks up way in advance. Just in case.]

I'm guessin' your world is a bit more prepared than ours was. Then again, I dunno why ours wouldn't be. Considerin' it was known as Wars World. Guess everyone can be a damn fool.

Was there anything by way of peace and prosperity in between the wars?

A few years but it was mostly spent washin' up after the last one.

I have no idea why then. Maybe it's just the difference in World Government.

Well then I guess we do come from different worlds then, huh?

Eventually. Which is better than never so I have to give the thumbs up to that.

Tch. I forget how long I've been here sometimes. There are a lot of people from different worlds here. Some of those worlds even got destroyed back in their time.

I got a few that can breed with a Hoppip. Any preference for which kind of Pokemon?

I wouldn't mind somethin' that helped me catch more Pokemon. I ain't a trainer but I'd like a few more to be around.

I guess a Bulbasaur can help, then. They can learn Sweet Scent, which can attract wild Pokemon, and can be pretty powerful if you train them right.

Hm... that would be a pair of grass types, wouldn't it?

Yeah, they're both part of the Grass egg group, so a Bulbasaur should match your Hoppip. I can't guarantee that the Bulbasaur hatching from the egg will be the opposite gender of your Hoppip, though.

Y'know, tha' ain't a bad thing. It means I keep lookin' for new types. And if a Bulbasaur is a strong type, it's probably gonna be popular, right?
